New Delhi: In line with its resolve to walk on the path shown by Dr BR Ambedkar and celebrate his legacy, the Delhi Government is organising a grand musical play on his life. Formally announcing the commencement of the grand-gala, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that this musical play will be the largest production of its kind globally.

He stated — I consider myself a devotee of Babasaheb and a part of the crores of followers he has all over the world. This mega-show would be organised twice a day from 25th February to 12th March at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.

A larger than life set with a 100 ft stage has been crafted for the show; Bollywood star Rohit Roy to play Babasaheb. The show will be absolutely free for the public but seats will have to be reserved beforehand due to limited space.

Tickets can be booked by calling 8800009938 or by visiting www.babasahebmusical.in.

Delhi Government had decided to celebrate the life of Babasaheb in this manner on his Mahaparinirvan Diwas. The event was supposed to commence in January but was postponed due to COVID.

CM Arvind Kejriwal began, “Babasaheb Ambedkar is considered to be one of the greatest leaders that our country has seen till date. He faced a lot of struggle in his life, and learning about his trials and triumphs truly inspires us. He has crores and crores of fans and devotees all over the world – I am one of them. I worship Babasaheb Ambedkar. He struggled his entire life, and despite the many obstacles, he persevered and fought for the rights of the poor and Dalits, given his background. He hailed from an impoverished childhood, but he proved himself by becoming Independent India’s first law minister and writing our scrupulous constitution.”

He continued, “In December, on the occasion of Babasaheb’s Mahaparinirvana Diwas, Delhi Government had decided to produce a magnanimous Musical Play as an ode to this eminent personality who left such a mark in our lives. We planned to connect the audience and make them aware of the rollercoaster that was Babasaheb’s life, so that every Delhi resident could also draw inspiration from it. This musical ‘Babasaheb’, was scheduled to commence on the 5th of January this year. However, given the rise in Omicron cases and the third wave, we were compelled to postpone this event.

He further stated, “Today, I am present among you to share the good news of its new performance dates – from 25th February to 12th March. This play will run everyday for this duration at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. I expect that this will be the first time that a show on Babasaheb’s life will be depicted on such a large scale with this level of importance. Everyday, there will be 2 show timings – one at 4 PM and another at 7 PM.  The show is completely free to the general public. However, there are only a limited number of seats available in the stadium. As a result, those interested in watching each show must reserve their seats in advance. You can reserve your seat by calling the number 8800009938. Aside from that, you can book your tickets by visiting www.babasahebmusical.in.”

He concluded, “Rohit Roy will play the role of Babasaheb Ambedkar. Rohit Roy is a very well known artist. This will be a mega-show with a 100-foot main stage and a 40-foot revolving stage. This will be larger than life. According to my understanding, a show of this calibre is being staged for the first time in the world. I would like to encourage everyone to come in large numbers and take inspiration from the life of Babasaheb Ambedkar.”
