New Delhi: A 15-year-old girl from Delhi who was allegedly sold to a man in Rajasthan for Rs 60,000, has been rescued from Sikar, said Delhi Police on Sunday, adding two persons have been arrested.
Joint Commissioner of Crime Branch of Delhi Police Alok Kumar said, “The main accused Neeraj Sonkar, a resident of Haiderpur, and Gopal Lal from Rajasthan have been arrested.
Joint Commissioner of Crime Branch of Delhi Police Alok Kumar said, “During investigation it was found that Neeraj Sonkar, the main accused, had kidnapped the minor with the help of Muskan, resident of Delhi's Rohini Sector 2, and Sheetal, resident of Agra in Uttar Pradesh.
“They had sold the minor to Gopal Lal in Rajasthan in exchange of Rs 60,000. Gopal wanted to marry off the girl with his brother-in-law Deenwar.”
The girl has been rescued from Sikar where she was being taken to get married.
While Sonkar and Lal have been arrested, Deenwar is absconding, Kumar said.
He further said that Rs 30,000 out of Rs 60,000 has been recovered from Neeraj’s possession.
He said, “A missing complaint was registered in the Shalimar Bagh police station by the girl’s family on September 16, 2021. The FIR was lodged on September 17.” (UNI)
