New Delhi: Stating that demonetisation has affected the business in Delhi which adversely impacted tax collections, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia today said it would be difficult to pay salaries of the Government employees. Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, he said, “Tax collection can be 50 percent low this month as there is no business in Delhi markets.

If so, it would be hard to pay salaries of the Government employees. Same concern being expressed by many state Finance Ministers in GST Council meet in the presence of Union Finance Minister,” he added. The usage of old Rs 500 notes for buying fuel at petrol pumps and purchasing tickets at airports were put to an end by the Government from December 3 following the reports of its misuse.

The exemption for payment of toll on highways will also end from coming Saturday. The Government earlier decided to use these facilities and the toll exemption till December 15. The demonetisation has adversely affected the small and medium business in Delhi due to the cash crunch. (UNI)
