Dense fog in Delhi leads to 94 trains delayed, 2 cancelled

New Delhi: Residents of the national capital woke up to face dense fog this morning, affecting rail and air traffic in the city. The foggy condition continued for most parts of the first half of the day. As many as 94 trains coming to the city were running late, while 16 trains departing from Delhi were rescheduled and two trains were cancelled due to poor visibility conditions, an official of Northern Railway said.
 

A few flights were delayed while flight operations remained normal as per the schedule, said a Delhi airport official. The weather office said the minimum temperature settled at 11.2 degrees Celsius, two notches above normal, while the maximum temperature is likely to settle at 23 degrees Celsius. Humidity at 0830 hrs was 97 per cent and visibility was 100 metres.

The Met Department has forecast a very dense fog with the maximum temperature likely to measure at 24 notches and minimum temperature at 9 degrees Celsius tomorrow. Yesterday, the minimum temperature was measured at 11.2 degrees Celsius; two notches above normal, while the maximum temperature settled at 24.3 degrees Celsius, zero notch above normal. (UNI)
