New Delhi: Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) wicket keeper MS Dhoni has been reprimanded for breaching the Indian Premier League (IPL) Code of Conduct in Pune’s campaign opener against Mumbai Indians last night. RPS spinner Imran Tahir, while bowling his third over, had appealed for a LBW against Mumbai batter Keiron Pollard after which the Ranchi lad amusingly signalled for a DRS review.
However, match referee Manu Nayyar took the joke seriously and officially reprimanded Dhoni."MS Dhoni admitted the Level 1 offence (Article 2.1.1) for conduct that is contrary to the spirit of the game.
For Level 1 breaches of the IPL Code of Conduct, the Match Referee's decision is final and binding," an official statement from the IPL stated.Notably, Chasing 185 for win, hosts Pune defeated the Mumbai Indians by seven wickets after a match winning knock by skipper Steven Smith (84 not out) and a half-century from Ajinkya Rahane (60) in their first IPL match of the tenth season last night at the MCA stadium in Pune.
