Khandwa: It was almost ‘Dumka redux’ in this district’s Bangarda village – within Mundi Police Station limits – where an 18-year-old was grievously injured after a youngster barged into her dwelling and attempted to slit her throat with a knife as he was incensed over her turning down his marriage proposal.
“She is undergoing treatment and reported to be stable,” the victim’s elder sister – whose raising an alarm had resulted in the attacker fleeing – told UNI on Tuesday night.
The accused Bablu – a kotwar (low-level functionary) – is absconding after perpetrating the assault on Monday. The victim was rushed to an infirmary in Mundi from where she was referred to the District Hospital.
The woman’s father alleged that Bablu had festering enmity with him while the sibling revealed the one-sided love angle. (UNI)
