ECI to visit Lucknow next week to review Election preparations in UP

Lucknow: Full Election Commission of India (ECI) led by Chief Election Commissioner Nasim Zaidi along with two other Commissioners is set to visit Lucknow to review the polls preparation for the seven phase polling in the state between February 11 to March 8 from January 13. Election office here today said there is a proposal of the visit of the full commission for three days starting from January 13.
 

The Commission's visit comes a day after the state publish the revised voters list on January 12. Sources here said the commission will start their work with meeting the representatives of the political parties and then will sit with the election officials to know their views. On day two they will go for a lengthy meeting with the district and state officials engaged in the election process and on the last day they will brief the media about the outcome of their visit.

Meanwhile, political parties, particularly BJP and BSP are preparing a list of the officials deployed in the districts, who could be a threat in the free and fair polls. This list would be given to the election commission during their visit to Lucknow or before, so that these officials can be identified and be replaced well before the elections. The notification for the first phase of elections, which will be held in western UP would be issued on January 17. (UNI)
