Chennai: Senior AIADMK leader and PWD Minsiter Edappadi K Palaniswami was today 'unanimously' elected as the new Legislature Party (LP) leader, in place of General Secretary V K Sasikala, who was convicted by the Supreme Court in the Disproportionate Assets (DA) that prevented her becoming the Chief Minister.
Mr Palanisami was elected as the LP leader at an emergency meeting of the 125 MLAs, chaired by Sasikala at a resort at Koovathur, about 80 km from here on the ECR, where they were housed for the last one week, and he would stake claim to form the next government. (UNI)
