Eight coaches of Rajya Rani Exp derail near Rampur

Rampur: Eight coaches of Lucknow-bound Rajya Rani Express derailed near Koshi bridge in Moradabad division of Northern Railway today. Nine passengers were said to be injured and were admitted to nearby hospitals.
 

However, railways claimed that only two passengers were injured. The accident occurred at 0815 hrs when 22454 Rajya Rani express from Meerut to Lucknow derailed near Rampur.

Sources said that rail traffic was not affected as trains were being passed through the up line. Divisional Railway Manager (Moradabad division) Pramod Kumar claimed that the relief and rescue operations were underway. He said eight coaches from rear derailed.

The train was on slow speed when the accident occurred. Railways have ordered a probe by the safety commissioner while helpline numbers have been issued. (UNI)
