New Delhi: Yet once again Aam Aadmi Party convener Arvind Kejriwal today hit out at the Election Commission over alleged Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) manipulation issues by calling it "Dhritarashtra', who is trying to favour his son "Duryodhana" (BJP) at all costs. Addressing a press conference, Mr Kejriwal alleged that 18 EVMs in yesterday's by-election held at Dholpur Assembly constituency in Rajasthan were tampered and asked the EC to initiate a probe.
"Earlier in Madhya Pradesh's Bhind, a similar issue of EVM surfaced during trial, but the EC has given a clean chit within three days by claiming that it was not tampered. Now, there is a doubt whether it is done at the behest of the Commission," the AAP convenor alleged. He also accused the EC by saying that the main objective of the Commission was not to conduct elections but to help BJP to acquire the power.
Attacking the State Election Commission, Mr Kejriwal said, "The SEC has written a letter that they want to conduct the forthcoming MCD polls with the first generation EVMs (manufactured before 2006). These machines don't have any security features. Why is the Commission conducting elections?
They should stop all the arrangements and declare BJP winner." Earlier, Mr Kejriwal had repeatedly demanded that the poll be conducted on ballot papers replacing the EVMs claiming that it can be easily tampered. (UNI)
