Farmer sentenced to 10 year imprisonment for growing Ganja

Belagavi: Second Special and Sessions court Judge G Nanjundaiah has convicted a 55-year-old farmer and sentenced him to 10 year imprisonment on the charges of growing banned ganja in his sugar cane field and storing dried ganja in his godown.

Judge has also slapped a fine of Rs One lakh on convicted Moulasab Imamsab Nadaf and if failing to pay the fine he has to serve a 3 month jail term, according to a release here on Friday.

On June 9, 2018, a police team, on getting information, the then Inspector Shankaragowda Patil raided his field and found that Rs 48,000 worth 16 kg ganja saplings were planted in sugar cane field and 24 kg ganja, worth about Rs 2,88,000 stored in the godown. (UNI)
