FIR against woman for ‘trying to extort’ Rs. 5 crore from Maharashtra minister Dhananjay Munde

Mumbai: In an important development relating to the case of a woman having a relationship with Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader and Maharashtra Social Justice Minister Dhananjay Munde, the city police registered a First Information Report (FIR) against the sister of the woman for allegedly trying to extort Rs 5 crore from Munde, an official said on Thursday.

The case was registered at Malabar Hill police station, and the investigation of the case has been transferred to the crime branch, he added.

According to the complaint, minister Munde, knows the woman and she allegedly called him from international mobile numbers in February and March this year and demanded a shop and expensive mobile phone, threatening to defame him on social media if he did not accept her demands, the police official said.

No arrest has been made in the case, the official added. It may be recalled that earlier Munde himself had revealed that has been in a relationship with a 38-year-old woman since 2003, whose sister is now accusing him of rape.

Munde said that he also has two children with the complainant's sister and that his relationship is known to his family and friends.

Munde also alleged that the woman he has been in a relationship with, along with her siblings, have been blackmailing him for long and that matters had also been taken to the Bombay High Court in November 2020. (UNI)
