FIR filed against journalist for report about breach of Aadhar data

New Delhi: Delhi Police has filed an FIR in a matter related to newspaper reports about the breach of data of more than one billion Aadhar cards.The FIR has been filed on the basis of a complaint made to police by UIDAI.According to police sources, on January 5, UIDAI lodged a complaint in Cyber Cell, that an input has been received through the newspaper Tribune regarding violation of the Grievance Redressal System of UIDAI . 

Accordingly, the complaint given by UIDAI has been converted into an FIR which is "open ended". The complaint given by UIDAI has mentioned the name of the reporter only who was purportedly given access. The Investigation has been initiated with the present focus on tracing and booking the person who has shared the password.The case is registered under section 36/37 of the Aadhaar Act, 419/420/468/471 IPC and 66 IT Act at PS Crime Branch. Further investigation is on.
