Thiruvananthapuram: A fisherman, who was mauled by a pack of stray dogs in the coastal village of Pulluvila in this district of Kerala, succumbed to injuries at a hospital this morning. Fiftytwo-year-old Joslin, who was waiting on the beach alone for other fishermen to arrive to haul the fishing net from the sea, was attacked by stray dogs at around 2330 hrs last night. Though he jumped into the sea to save himself from the attack, the dogs mauled him badly.
The seriously injured fisherman was rushed to the hospital by local people. Medical College Hospital sources said he succumbed to injuries at 0530 hrs today. The tragic incident occurred in the same locality where a 65-year-old woman was mauled to death by stray dogs last year. Local people blocked the traffic in the area demanding action to curb stray dog menace in the area. They alleged that though scores of people suffered stray dog menace in Kanjiramkulam area, no action was taken by the state government and the local self government. (UNI)
