Former Congress leader Barkha Shukla Singh joins BJP

New Delhi: The new name in the list of leaders immigrating to BJP from congress is Barkha SIngh. Ms Shukla joined the party, in presence of party's national Vice-President Shyam Jaju, Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Vijay Goel and other BJP leaders at a press conference, here.

The former Delhi Commission for Women chief's move comes a day after she was expelled for six years by the Delhi Congress for "anti-party activities," just before the Civic elections.

Congress party's decision to expel her comes close on the heels after Ms Shukla resigned from the post of chief of State Women's Wing of the party, citing that the party under the leadership of its Vice-President Rahul Gandhi and State President Ajay Maken have only used the issue of empowerment of women to gather votes.
