Bengaluru: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) worker Rudresh was hacked to death in the broad daylight in the City on October 16 not with any enmity or for gain but to create terror and prevent people from joining the RSS. The National Investigation Agency (NIA), in its chargesheet filed with the Special Court for NIA cases here yesterday, said the murder as an act of terror. Rudresh was murdered on October 16 on the busy Kamaraj Road, and Ministry of Home Affairs, which took up the case suo moto since the accused had terrorist link, had asked NIA to investigate.

Five people, including Irfan Pasha, Waseem Ahmed, Mohammad Sadiq, Mohammed Mujeeb Ulla and Asim Sheriff--members of Popular Front of India and Social Democratic Party of India, were arrested and charged under various sections of the IPC and the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act including punishment for terrorist acts, conspiracy and being member of a terrorist gang or organisation. "The murder was committed with an intention to strike terror among a section of the people," it was alleged in the charge sheet.

The NIA also alleged that the arrested had decided to kill at least two RSS workers to prevent people from joining the RSS. NIA investigators believe that the five accused had been indoctrinated to believe that they were doing their part of fulfilling the objective of establishing jihad. The Investigation into who was responsible for the indoctrination process is ongoing. (UNI)
