From Jio to Bhagwant Mann

New Delhi: When Prime Minister Narendra Modi rose to speak in Lok Sabha on tuesday, he made sure that the laugh riot will not die down anytime soon.

In a brilliantly articulated speech, he never missed a chance to take a sarcastic jibe at opposition. In one such instance he quoted Charvak's philosophy in reference to Congress Govt of bygone times and said that those establishments would even go on to borrow money if they need to drink ghee. To which he added, those were the good times hence they wanted to drink ghee, if it was today, then they would have wanted to drink something else. He was clearly taking a jibe on AAP MP Bhagwant Mann, notorious for being a drunkard. He even took his name which prompted Mann to stand and protest.

While quoting Charvak when he said : "Jab tak Jiyo sukh se jiyo", the opposition benches started chanting Jio Jio, an obvious jibe at Prime Minister himself this time, suggesting his alleged proximity with Reliance Chief Mukesh Ambani whose ambitious Jio scheme is the biggest thing in IT and telecom industry today.

However, with shots being fired from both sides, it was clear that PM's speech wasn't going to prove short of entertainment.(WD)
