Meerut (UP): A hardened criminal of western Uttar Pradesh Anil Dujana was killed in an encounter with the Special Task Force of UP in Meerut on Thursday, police sources said here.
Police sources said that Anil Dujana alias Sunder Nagar alias Sunder Daku, a resident of Dujana village in Badalpur area of Greater Noida, had unleashed a reign of terror in Delhi and National Capital Region (NCR).
Superintendent of Police (SP) STF in Meerut Brijesh Singh said that Dujana had come to Bhola Jhal area to commit an incident. The criminal was surrounded by the STF team after his location was tracked near Gang Nahar. Information was received that Dujana was preparing to flee to Nepal," he said.
He said that after being surrounded by the STF team Dujana opened fire and was killed in retaliatory firing.
"Anil Dujana was lodged in Tihar jail for a long time and was recently released on bail. He had more than five dozen cases, including that of murder, dacoity, extortion and ransom, lodged against him. A reward was also announced on his arrest," he said. (UNI)
