Hacker cheats woman of Rs 8.76 lakh on pretext of winning lottery in 'Kaun Banega Crorepati' show

Kolhapur/Ratnagiri: A hacker has allegedly cheated a woman from Kondivali village in Khed tehsil of Ratnagiri district of Rs 8.76 lakh by saying that she had won a lottery of Rs 40 lakh in soon-to-be telecast popular quiz show 'Kaun Banega Crorepati', hosted by Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan.

The alleged accused, Ashoka Varna, called the woman resident of Kondivali village and told her that she had won a lottery of Rs 40 lakh in popular game show 'Kaun Banega Crorepati' but she would have to pay Rs 8,76,500 as a tax on total winning amount and took the 'tax' amount from the woman.

He also took photocopies of her Aadhar card, a cheque of a bank and other documents.

After realising the fraud, the woman registered a complaint with the Khed police station, who are investigating into the incident. (UNI)
