Himachal Pradesh: Navodaya Vidyalaya teacher booked for thrashing students

Hamirpur: Police in Himachal Praesdh's Bhoranj registered a case against Prakash Chand, a teacher for allegedly beat up Class 7 students last week.

SP, Hamirpur, Akriti Sharma said Monday that taking immediate cognizance in the matter on receipt of written complaint from Nishi Goel, acting Principal of Navodaya Vidyalaya, Doongri, the police registered the case.

A number of students of the school had alleged that they were mercilessly beaten up on August 5 by TGT Prakash Chand as a result they approached their parents and the matter became public.

Parents also reported the matter to the acting Principal and accordingly the complaint was filed.

Corporal punishment by teachers is banned in educational institutions all over India as per the orders of the central Ministry of Education. (UNI)
