Hubballi: After struggling for over a year and crossing several official roadblocks, a boy from the city succeed in securing his wife from Pakistan. Daniel Henry Devanur who had fallen in love with Silvia Noreen, a distant relative of his mother who stayed in Lahore before partition, married her in 2016 and his parents could not attend the marriage as they did not have passports.
 

The marriage held at a Pentecostal Church in Lahore was registered in a Pakistani court. After a few days, Daniel Henry want to bring his wife to India. He struggled a lot to bring home his wife as she is a Pakistani. Daniel failed many times in getting a sponsorship certificate for which the gazetted officer must sign on the documents. Daniel Henry met many officers to have a gazetted sign so that he can bring his wife to India.

But, no one signed on the documents. He finally tweeted to External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj seeking her help to get his wife. Then, the gazetted officer finally signed on the documents. Silvia Noreen arrived at New Delhi yesterday and the couple will stay there for a few days before arriving here, according to family sources. A grand reception is planned for them since her in-laws could not attend the marriage and this is for the first time they are seeing their daughter in-law. (UNI)
