New Delhi/The Hague:In a major diplomatic win for India, the International Court of Justice at The Hague today stayed the death sentence of former Naval official Kulbhushan Jadhav, given by a Pakistani military court.
The Court ordered that "Pakistan shall take all measures" to ensure that Mr Jadhav was not executed till the final disposal of the case by it. Upholding India's plea, grounded in the Vienna Convention, to stay the death sentence, the Court further said the 2008 bilateral agreement between India and Pakistan did not bar the rights of the international court to decide on the case.
