An IIM (Kolkata) second year student was arrested on charges of raping a girl inside the institution's complex in south Kolkata, official sources said today.The student, identified as Paramanand Toppawakar, a resident of Karnataka, was arrested after the Kolkata Police swung into action following an FIR lodged by the victim at Haridevpur police station last evening.
It was alleged that the girl was called by the student with an assurance for her counselling inside the complex last evening and given some food and soft drinks. The girl reportedly fell unconscious and when came to her senses, she found that she had been raped in the boys hostel. The girl also alleged that she was not allowed to sign in the visitor book while entering the complex.
The city police following the FIR talked to the management of IIM (Kolkata) and arrested the student under section of IBNS 123 and 64.The alleged rape inside the high-profile institution of the country happened in a span of three weeks after a girl student was allegedly raped inside the Calcutta Law College in south Kolkata on June 25.(UNI)<>
