Chennai: In a shocking incident, a 45-year-old farmer hacked to death his wife and four children, including two teenaged daughters, injuring another daughter, and later committed suicide by hanging at his house at Oranthavadi village in Chengam in Tiruvannamalai district of Tamil Nadu.
Another daughter, Bhoomika aged 9 years, who was also hacked by her father Palani, was admitted to the Tiruvannamalai Government Hospital with cut injuries and was battling for life, reports received at the police headquarters here said.
The incident has sent shockwaves in the locality.
The incident was expected to have taken last night and it came to light on Tuesday morning after neighbours, sensing that something amiss has taken place, informed the police.
Police broke open the doors of the house and found Palani hanging from the ceiling, while his 37-year-old wife Valli, three daughters--Trisha (15), Monika (14), Sivasakthi (6) and son (Dhanush (4) were found lying in a pool of blood and another daughter Sivasakthi (6) with cut injuries.
The reason for the man resorting to such a horrific incident was being probed, though initial reports said family dispute was said to be the reason for the killings.
A case has been registered and further investigation is on. (UNI)
