How he saved the lives of four before breathing his last

Aurangabad: A 46-year-old-man, declared brain dead following an accident, has given a fresh lease of life to four people in this district of Maharashtra. His heart was donated to a 44-year-old patient at city based United Cigma hospital here yesterday. While kidney transplantation was performed at two others hospitals here, the liver was sent to Pune based Sahadri hospital after making green corridor to transport the organ.
 

According to hospital sources here, Anil Patil a teacher (46) was admitted to the hospital on January 29 night, after he was injured in a road accident at HUDCO locality in the city. Displaying exemplary courage, his wife Jyothi Patil a mother of three, agreed to donate the organs saying, 'I lost my husband but our family members are happy that he could save lives of four others suffering from various ailments.'

This is the first organ donation case this year here. In 2016, organs of at least seven brain dead patients were donated at various hospitals giving life to more than 25 needy patients. (UNI)
