Jerusalem: India and Israel today signed seven agreements for cooperation in several areas, including space, water management and space, after talks between visiting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu. The two countries also announced establishment of an India-Israel Industrial R&D Technological Innovation Fund of 40 million dollars.

A joint statement was issued after the talks. During the talks, Mr Modi described his visit as ground breaking and he said that he saw history in making. The two leaders had restricted talks first, followed by delegation level talks. Mr Modi, who arrived here yesterday on a three-day visit, is the first Indian Prime Minister to come to visit Israel. The two countries are celebrating 25 years of the establishment of diplomatic relations this year. Mr Netanyahu had yesterday described Mr Modi’s visit as historic and said,’’We have been waiting for you for the last 70 years.’’ (UNI)
