Kanpur Test: Spinners put India in the drivers seat on 3rd day, Lead by 215 runs

Kanpur: India ended the Day 3 of the first test on 159/1 and took a healthy lead of 215 runs against New Zealand in their second innings at the Green Park stadium here this evening.Opener Murli Vijay (64) and Cheteshwar Pujara (50) were unbeaten at the crease when the stumps were drawn.

Despite struggling against the Kiwis on Day 2, the Virat Kohli-led team were back in driving seat of the proceedings today after spinners R Jadeja (5/73) and R Ashwin (4/93) wrapped up the visitors on 262.

India started their second innings with a lead of 56 runs and openers KL Rahul, Vijay stayed at the crease for a 52-run partnership.Rahul was dismissed by Ish Sodhi while he was trying a late-cut, which was comfortably landed at slip's hand.

After his dismissal, the Black Caps kept struggling for wickets as incoming batsmen Pujara along with Vijay, put an unbeaten 107-run stand.With 9 wickets still in hand and two days to go, India will now be eyeing for a huge total when they come out to bat tomorrow. (UNI)
