New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said India's history is not only about defeat, poverty or colonialism, but the country has given the world the message of good governance, non-violence and Satyagraha too. Speaking at a function, he paid tributes to Lord Basavanna of Karnataka. He said social reformers in India had always given equal opportunities to women.
On the Triple Talaq issue, Mr Modi said the discussions were going on in this direction. He requested the Muslim society not to politicise the matter and hoped that the issue will be resolved within the Muslim community itself. Mr Modi said Lord Basavanna's teachings were also based on the cherished principles of good governance and truth. The Prime Minister expressed concern over the menace of corruption and said this malady was rotting the nation from inside. (UNI)
