Srinagar: Alert troops foiled yet another infiltration bid in the frontier district of Kupwara, killing a militant so far, official sources said. They said troops guarding the Line of Control (LoC) noticed a group of militants sneaking into this side from Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK) in Naugam sector in Kupwara early this morning under the cover of darkness. However, when challenged and asked to surrender, the infiltrators opened fire, they said, adding that the fire was returned ensuing an encounter.
Initial report received said that one militant was killed and the operation was going on when the reports last came in. Additional security forces have been rushed to nearby camp and entire forest has been sealed , they said. (UNI)
