"Is your sister-in-law Harshada Redkar in drugs business?" Nawab Malik to Sameer Wankhede

, Monday, 8 November 2021 (22:02 IST)
Mumbai: Nationalist Congress Party leader and Maharashtra Minister Nawab Malik on Monday launched yet another salvo at his now bete noire Sameer Wankhede, alleging that the Narcotics Control Bureau Zonal Director's sister-in-law was in the drugs business.

In a Twitter thread, Malik said Harshada Dinanath Redkar is listed as ‘respondent and advocate’ in a 2008 case registered under the NDPS Act, in a Pune Court.

He said Harshada is reportedly the sister of Marathi actress Kranti Dinanath Redkar, the second wife of Wankhede.

“Sameer Dawood Wankhede, is your sister-in-law Harshada Dinanath Redkar involved in the drug business? You must answer because her case is pending before the Pune Court. Here is the proof,” Malik said attaching court documents.

Wankhede apparently rebutted the latest allegations saying he had not entered the government service when the case was lodged in January 2008, besides, he married Kranti Redkar in 2017 and was not involved in any way with the case.

Post the NCB’s cruise raid and subsequent arrest of actor Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan on October 3, the minister has consistently hurled serious accusations at the NCB officer.

The NCP leader has made several allegations against the anti-drug agency, including claims of "faking the cruise raid at the BJP’s behest".

The minister has continuously maintained the raid on the cruise was carried out with the intent of maligning the Maharashtra government as well as Bollywood.

Refuting the charges, Wankhede apparently said there was a case against his sister-in-law in 2008 when he was unmarried. He said he got married with Kranti Redekar in 2017 and had nothing to do with case of Harshada which may be pending with a Pune court.

The NCB officer was not in the service when the case was registered in January 2008 neither was he married, he has said. (UNI)
