Srinagar: A sick woman died on Thursday as she allegedly failed to reach the hospital on time due to closure of the road, connecting her native village near the Line of Control (LOC) with the border town of Uri in north Kashmir from last over ten days following landsides.

The relatives of the deceased woman said that she had high grade fever in the morning following which they decided to take her to a hospital in Uri. “As the road was closed, we took her to the hospital in a stretcher on foot from village Churanda near LoC,” they said.

However, they said the 25-year-old woman died on way to the hospital. “Had the road been cleared, we could have reached the hospital on time and she would have been alive,” they said.

Their village and adjoining areas remained cut off from last 10 days due to landlines near Koli Nala on Uri-Churanda road,” the sources said. (UNI)
