New Delhi: Uttar Pradesh police has arrested the Editor of Jagran.com after the Election Commission lodged an FIR against the newspaper for publishing exit polls at the end of first phase of polling in the state Assembly elections on February 11. The arrest came late last night after police raided the premises of various Jagran functionaries in Delhi and Ghaziabad.

The Election Commission had taken a strong exception to the newspaper for publishing results of the exit polls, saying it was wilful disobedience of law. Under the RP Act, the publication of result of such exit polls is punishable by imprisonment for a term up to 2 years or with fine or both. (UNI)
