Srinagar: A magician who impersonated as a beggar to loot cash and gold from a house four days ago has been arrested in Kashmir's Budgam district.

Police said Mushtaq Ahmad Shah of Kanigund Beerwah was arrested from Putlibagh in Budgam.

On Friday, a complaint was received from Abdul Rashid Bhat of Budgam that a person posing as a beggar came to his house and requested a cup of tea to show some magic tricks. The family provided him tea.

“Later, he offered to do magic with cash and gold and looted the same and escaped,” Bhat said.

On sustained questioning, Shah confessed to his involvement in the crime, a police statement said.

On his disclosure, two bangles, a pair of earrings, a chain and a ring were recovered from his possession. (UNI)
