Jammu and Kashmir: TV artist Amreen Bhat shot dead by terrorists, 10-year-old nephew injured in Budgam

Srinagar: A woman Tik Tok star was killed and her 10-year-old nephew injured in a militant attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Budgam district on Wednesday evening, officials said.

Police said the incident took place at 7.55 pm at Hashroo Chadoora.

They said terrorists fired upon one lady Amreen Bhat, Daughter of Khazir Mohammad Bhat, a Resident of Hushroo Chadoora at her home.

She was shifted to hospital in an injured condition where doctors declared her dead.

Her 10-year- old nephew who was also at home received a bullet injury on his arm, the police added.

Amreen was a television artist, Tik Toker and a social media facebook popular.

“At around 1955 hrs, terrorists fired upon one lady Amreen Bhat D/o Khazir Mohd Bhat R/o Hushroo Chadoora at her home. She was shifted to hospital in an injured condition where doctors declared her dead. Her 10 year old nephew who was also at home received a bullet injury on his arm”, a police tweet said.

Police said that three terrorists of proscribed terror outfit LeT were involved in this heinous terror incident. The whole area has been cordoned off and search operation is in progress.

Police has registered a case in this regard under relevant sections of law. Investigation is in progress and officers continue to work to establish the full circumstances of this terror crime.

This was the second target killing in Chadoora in the last two weeks. On May 12 a Kashmiri Pandit Rahul Bhat, a revenue official, was shot dead by militants in his office that sparked large scale protests by the community and condemnation all across Jammu and Kashmir.

Wednesday’s incident was the second in the past 24 hours, a Jammu and Kashmir policeman was killed, while his daughter was injured in a militant attack in Srinagar’s Anchar Soura area on Tuesday. (UNI)
