JNU VC orders probe into effigy incident, BJP condemns act

New Delhi: The Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) administration has ordered a probe into the burning of effigy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi inside its campus during the Dusshera festival by a student organisation. "The effigy burning incident at JNU was brought to our notice. We are investigating the matter and examining all relevant information," JNU Vice-Chancellor Jagadesh Kumar said in a tweet.
 

According to reports, on October 11, members of the Congress-affiliated National Students Union of India (NSUI), unsatisfied with the ruling government burnt an effigy of the Prime Minister near the Sabarmati Dhaba. Reports also said that NSUI had also burnt effigies representing Ramdev, Nathuram Godse, Sadhvi Pragya and Asaram Bapu during the festival.

 
BJP condemns burning of Modi's effigy in JNU campus

The BJP today strongly condemned the incident of alleged burning of effigy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi inside the JNU campus on Dusshera. Talking to a news channel, party spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain demanded that a case be registered against those who were involved in burning the PM's effigy. Meanwhile, the Jawaharlal Nehru University administration has ordered a probe into the incident.
