Bengaluru: Two Kannada filmstars, Kichcha Sudeep and Darshan Thoogudeepa are expected to join the BJP on Wednesday ahead of May 10 assembly elections in Karnataka.
Both the Sandalwood actors may join the saffron party this afternoon at a private hotel in the presence of Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, BJP sources said.
Sudeep is a well-known actor and primarily works in Kannada films, but he has acted in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil films. He has also done a cameo in blockbuster Bahubali.
He has 20-plus years of experience in the film industry, and he is also suave in direction, producing films and screenwriting. Sudeep made his acting debut with Thayavva and gave hits like Sparsha, Huchcha, Swathi Muthu, Eega and My Autograph.
He has also been bestowed with several awards including the Filmfare Award for Best Actor (Kannada) and the Karnataka State Film Award for Best Actor.
Darshan is an action film actor who made his debut in 2001 with Majestic film. In the last 20 years, the actor has acted in 50 films and also won several awards including the Karnataka State Film Award for Best Actor for his role in the film "Sarathi".
Darshan is popular among Kannada movie fans for his intense roles and ability to showcase complex emotions on screen.
Both the actors are active participants in various social causes. (UNI)
