Bengaluru: Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa here on Thursday announced the extension of the state-wide lockdown till June 14, to stem the transmission of the COVID-19, which had claimed over 30,000 lives in the state.
Addressing a press conference, the Chief Minister also announced a second financial relief of Rs 500 crore for the people, who had been badly affected by the lockdown.
Mr Yediyurappa said that the decision to extend the lockdown was in line with the advice of the COVID-19 Technical Advisory Committee.
He said the restrictions which were in force, will continue for another week and sought co-operation from the people to comply with the guidelines.
Opposition JD(S) and Congress had also favoured the lockdown extension to save the lives of the people. (UNI)
