Kasganj: The prime accused in police constable lynching case was killed in an encounter on Sunday morning, Uttar Pradesh police official said.
Moti Singh, a history sheeter, liquor mafia was wanted in more than 11 cases, suffered a bullet
injury and died on the way to a hospital, Superintendent of Police Manoj Sonkar said.
The incident, according to police, occurred near Kali river. A service revolver, stolen by the accused, has been recovered from the possession.
The SP said Moti and his brother Elgar were accused in the lynching of police constable Devendra and critically injuring sub-inspector Ashok Kumar on February 9, when they went to serve a warrant to Moti at Nagla Dheemar village in Kasganj.
Elgar, brother of Moti, was also killed in an encounter with police near Kali river a few days back.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had ordered swift action against the accused. He had also announced an ex-gratia of Rs 50 lakh and a job to the kin of the deceased policeman. (UNI)
