Thane: The AHTC unit of the city crime branch on Friday claimed to have solved a four year old kidnapping case of a teenager and said that the 'victim' is now married and mother of one.
Talking to UNI, senior Inspector Ashok Kadlag said that the girl aged 16 was reported kidnapped by some unidentified person on June 21 of 2017 from Vithalwadi town.
The local police carried out a search for her for some time and later gave it up. On August 23, the case was transferred to the AHTC unit, he added.
A tip-off was received that the kidnapped girl was to be brought to the Court Naka here on September 15.
Hence, a trap was laid and subsequently a woman arrived at the specified spot with a child in her arms, the police said.
The police enquired from the woman and it was revealed that she was the same teenager who was 'kidnapped' four years back.
During further questioning, she informed the police that she failed in the SSC twice and she was no longer interested in the studies and wanted to give it up. But her parents didn’t agree with her.
Hence, she ran away from home and after attaining the age of 18, and then she officially married a boy who was known to her in Chembur, police said.(UNI)
