Kolkata: Police bust major fake call centre, arrests 40 for duping foreign customers

Kolkata: The anti-corruption wing of Kolkata Police unearthed a major fake call centre from the heart of this city and arrested five women among 40 people who allegedly were involved in cheating foreign clients, especially Australians, official sources said on Thursday.
 
Following a specific input, the detective department of Lalbazar, the headquarters of Kolkata Police, raided the alleged fake call centre in the Chowringhee area (Esplanade) and arrested 40 people from the center on Wednesday night, they said.
 
The call centre, identified as Translink, allegedly was involved in duping foreign clients, especially Australians, through the internet and soft wire services and converted the finds through Hawala and Bitcoins.
 
All the arrested people will be produced before the judicial court on Thursday. (UNI)
