Hyderabad: Lakhs of people including women and children turned up to witness the shobha yatra and bid adieu to Lord Ganesha, the god of wisdom,as thousands of his idols were being immersed in the Hussainsagar lake here since Sunday morning.
Among the idols already immersed was the giant Khairatabad one weighing 40 tonnes and 57 feet tall.The immersion process which began in the wee of hours of Sunday will continue till Monday morning.
The immersion brings to an end the ten-day Ganesh chathurthi celebrations which comprise of worship and prayers to the 'remover of obstacles' in hundreds of decorated and illuminated pandals.More than 15,000 idols in various parts of Hyderabad and Secunderabad and surrounding areas will be immersed.(UNI)
