Patna: Police today resorted to lathicharge on students protesting against gross irregularities in evaluation and publishing of Intermediate results declared by Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) as only 35 percent of students could clear the examination.
A large number of students who had failed in Intermediate Examination, gathered before the office of Intermediate Council and raised slogans against the Education Minister Ashok Chaudhary and Chairman of BSEB Anand Kishore, holding them responsible for the gross irregularities committed in evaluation of answersheets of the Intermediate Examination. Police said that the situation turned ugly when some students tried to enter into office premises and started breaking boundary gate.
Despite repeated requests made by authorities not to do so, students continued their attempt to break open the gate which forced police to lathicharge on them to scare away from the spot. "Students were demanding re-evaluation of the answersheets as some of them were declared successful in various competitive examinations conducted for admission in medical and engineering colleges, but could not clear the Intermediate Examination conducted by BSEB", said a police officer, deployed on the spot.
