Life imprisonment to SIMI mastermind Safdar Nagori, 10 others

Indore: A special court here today awarded life imprisonment to 11 activists of the banned Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI), including its mastermind Safdar Nagori. Special Judge BK Paloda pronounced the judgement. Munroz, an accused who was out on bail, was also present. Heavy security arrangement was made inside the court premises, in view of the hearing.

District Public Prosecutor Vimal Kumar Mishra said the recording of statements of 11 SIMI activists was completed on February 23. Over 300 questions were asked to the accused. A joint team of Dhar and Indore police nabbed 13 SIMI activists from Indore in March 2008 and seized explosives and weapons in huge quantity. (UNI)
