Gorakhpur: An employee of a liquor shop Manish Prajapati (24) was brutally beaten to death by goons on Thursday night for not giving them free liquor in a model shop located in Ramgarhtal area, police said on Friday.
His companion Raghu, who came to Manish's rescue, was also beaten up badly.
This is the same Ramgarhtal area, where Manish Gupta, a businessman from Kanpur, was allegedly beaten to death by the police on Monday night.
Police said Raghu has been admitted to a nearby hospital. The entire incident was caught in the CCTV camera. On receiving the information, heavy police force including ADG Akhil Kumar, DIG J Ravindra Gound reached the spot.
Police have begun a manhunt to catch the culprits.
According to the information, one Nagendra Pratap Singh, a resident of Maharajganj district, has a model shop near Vardayani in Ramgarhtal police station area which is run by his son Manish Singh.
Manish Prajapati, 24-year-old son of Shravan Prajapati, a resident of Panagari in Rewa district of Madhya Pradesh, used to work as a canteen employee at the model shop. The miscreants from the Kotwali area reached there around 7:30 on Thursday night. They asked Manish to give them liquor, for which Manish asked them to pay. At this, the young man asking for liquor identified himself as the brother of a history-sheeter and pressured him to give him liquor for free.
Manish told him that he will be able to get liquor only after paying money. This angered the young man. He called some of his friends on the phone. Some people came there and started creating a ruckus. Manish ran inside the model shop to hide where the goons barged inside and started beating him with hockey sticks. Raghu, a resident of Patopur, located in Huzurpur police station area of ??Bahraich, his companions who went to save Manish were also beaten up by the goons.
At the same time other waiters and employees ran for their lives. There was chaos and many employees jumped behind the counter to save themselves. After seriously injuring both of them, the goons fled away waving hockey sticks.
Both the injured were taken to a nearby hospital, where Manish was referred to a medical college as his condition was critical. Manish succumbed to his injuries on the way to the medical college, while Raghu is undergoing treatment.
Inspector Ramgarhtal K K Rana said that a case will be registered on the complaint of the victim. The search for the accused is on. The accused are being identified with the help of CCTV footage, they will be arrested soon. Strict legal action will be taken against them, he said. (UNI)
