Maharashtra: 12 labourers killed as vehicle carrying them overturns

Buldhana/Nagpur: At least 12 labourers were killed on Friday when a vehicle carrying them to Samruddhi Highway project work, turned turtle in Maharashtra's Buldhana district, said sources.

Sources further said that the truck was laden with iron bars and the mishap took place at Samruddhi highway near Dusarbid village in Sindhkhed Raja in Buldana district.

"At least 12 labourers died on the spot while some others sustained serious injuries in the mishap and they were rushed to nearby hospital," the source said. The identity of the deceased could not be ascertained immediately.

Soon after the incident, a number of villagers from nearby places assembled at the site of the accident. The local police have also have reached the spot, sources said adding that further investigation was on. (UNI)
