Maharashtra: Lightning kills 5 in Marathwada

Aurangabad: Five people were killed due to lightning strikes during the pre-monsoon showers that were accompanied with gusty winds during the past 24 hours in Jalna and Aurangabad districts of Marathwada region.

Reports reaching here from Jalna district stated that three persons were killed due to lighting strikes on them during the rain, this includes a 22- year-old farmer Anil Shinde hailing from Peva village in Manta taluka.

In another lighting incident Vasant Jadhav (50) from Malkini village died due to lighting strike when he was working in his land while Gangabai Jadhav hailing from Konda village in Bhokardan taluka also died due to lighting struck on her.

In Aurangabad district, A 45 year old farmer Sanjay Utade hailing from Savkheda village in Sillod taluka was killed when lightning struck him.

A similar incident occured at village Kekat Jalgaon in Paithan taluka, as one Gajanan Darade (27) was also died due to lighting strike.

Meanwhile, pre monsoon showers struck with gusty winds and lightning in different parts in Aurangabad, Beed, Jalna and Nanded district of Marthwada region last evening bringing respite from intense heat. (UNI)
