Kolhapur (Maharashtra): In a shocking incident, a mother was arrested along with two others for selling her one-year-old daughter to a couple in Goa for one lakh rupees.
According to Laxmipuri police, the woman was identified as Punam Deelip Dhenge has been living with her mother at Pattankodoli in Hatkanangale tehsil of this district for the past one year after being separated from her husband Deelip Vilas Dhenge.
It was the husband who informed the police after he came to know that his daughter was put for adoption without informing him.
Deelip rushed to the police and registered a complaint against wife Punam. During investigation, Punam confessed that she sold their daughter to a couple in Goa for a lakh with the help of her friend and a mediator.
Police arrested Punam, her friend Sachin Annappa Kondekar (40) and mediator Kiran Ganpati Patil (30). Fatima Farnandez and Jeri Paul Nohonha from Goa were also booked.
