Nagpur: A woman saved her five-year-old daughter from the jaws of a leopard at a forest in Maharashtra’s Chandrapur district, sources from the forest department said here on Sunday.
According to the sources the leopard jumped upon a girl at the outskirts of Junona village in Chandrapur district.
However, Archana Sandeep Meshram, mother of the daughter, fought the leopard with a stick and saved her daughter.
The girl received serious injuries in the incident that occurred on June 30.
According to a detailed report, Archana Meshram along with her daughter Prajakta was going to attend nature's call when the leopard suddenly attacked the girl while she was walking behind her mother.
When Archana saw her daughter's head in the leopard's jaw, she quickly picked up a stick and started hitting the beast, said the sources.
Taken aback by her aggressive action, the leopard fled the spot.
The girl received serious injuries in the attack. She was hospitalised at Civil Hospital in Chandrapur from where she was later referred to a government dental hospital in Nagpur, the sources said adding that the girl is scheduled to undergo surgery at the hospital on Monday 19. (UNI)
