Man dies as he fell into ditch while trying to escape from wild elephant

Mysuru: A 45-year-old labourer was killed when he fell into a ditch while being attacked by a wild elephant at Halehgudelu village in Saragur Taluk in Bandipur Tiger Reserve in the district on Sunday morning.

Police said the deceased has been identified as Joyee.  The incident occurred when the victim was trying to escape from the elephant attack and fell into a deep ditch and died on the spot.

He was working in a ginger field.

Forest officials reached the place and have been trying to drive away the elephant from the spot.

Saraguru police have registered a case in this connection. (UNI)
