This anxiety is not only limited to the current workforce of people but also to fresh graduates and students who want to pursue a career in their dream field, but the growing use of artificial intelligence has almost taken over jobs in almost all fields.
Recently a study by Microsoft has listed 40 jobs that could soon be replaced by AI-powered chatbots, which analyzed the US job market but has global implications. This research is conducted by Kiran Tomlinson, who studied a "dataset of 200,000 anonymized interactions between users and the Copilot chatbot and explained that the aim of this study is to understand how AI can help and impact different roles. Microsoft itself has laid off thousands of employees this year, with artificial intelligence being one of the major reasons.
Top Jobs in the List
Number one on the list are interpreters and translators with an AI applicability score of 0.49, which is closely followed by historians (0.48), passenger attendants (0.47), service sales representatives (0.46), and writers and authors with a score of 0.45. The list also included surprising roles like radio DJs, models, massage therapists, news analysts, and economics teachers.
On the other side, jobs that can be least affected by AI include bridge tenders, dredge operators, maids, and housekeeping cleaners—roles that mainly require a physical human presence, and these jobs are now being considered safe as AI tools can't replace these.
Still, business leaders like CEO of Nvidia, Jensen Huang, recently stated, "Everybody’s jobs will be affected. Some jobs will be lost. Many jobs will be created, and what I hope is that the productivity gains that we see in all the industries will lift society.”
This research doesn't predict widespread job losses, and jobs with high risk shouldn't panic. Instead Rather, it highlights the need for adaptability in a workplace that's rapidly transforming due to the growing integration of AI.
